Nicholas Hytner’s much-lauded production of Handel’s Xerxes receives its sixth revival, with Katerina Karnéus in the title role.

In a plot with more mistaken identities than the average Shakespearean comedy, Xerxes falls in love with the woman that his brother adores. From there, loves leads everyone a merry dance until their many passions are finally resolved.
