Icelandic company Vesturport return to the Barbican with Buchner’s tale of a young man struggling to make the best of what life has dealt him. Played out through a series of nightmarish encounters, Woyzeck oppressed, betrayed and stalked by his own paranoia before he is pushed beyond breaking point.
This production, which features original music and lyrics from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, was first seen at the Barbican during the 2005 Young Genius season.
Woyzeck contains brief use of strong language and sexual content which may be unsuitable for younger audiences. It is recommended for audiences over 15-years-old.
