Moss Side, 1974: Lauren has returned home for a festive Christmas dinner, but she has no intention of staying. She can do her exams because they’ve found her a place with a crèche. Dad is not impressed; he thinks she should stay at home. Mum just thinks she should have kept her legs shut in the first place.

Linda Brogan’s new play was developed while on a residency at the Contact. Brogan, who won the Alfred Fagon Award in 2001, has previously written Basil And Beattie, Clean Break and Contact.

Paulette Randall, who directs the production, has previously directed Blest Be The Tie at the Royal Court. Her many other credits include King Hedley II, Two Trains and Up Against The Wall at the Tricycle theatre, and Urban Afro Saxons at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
