As you’ll be aware, we’ve had to temporarily lower the curtain at the Adelphi Theatre and it’s now unlikely that the diner with reopen once this period of uncertainty is over. If things do change and there is a world in which we believe we could continue a run at the Adelphi before 4 July, we will be in touch with you. Serving up a warm Broadway musical straight from the heart, Waitress has been opening up at the West End’s Adelphi Theatre.

The beloved musical’s transfer, based on the 2007 film of the same name, has a score by six-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, along with a book by Jessie Nelson. Waitress has been eagerly awaited in London, having scored four Tony Award Nominations on Broadway, including for Best Musical.

Featuring an all-female creative team, Waitress tells the story of expert pie maker Jenna, stuck in a small town and a neglected marriage. Dreaming of bigger and better things, Jenna’s life begins to heat up when she meets a compassionate doctor and forms a plan to enter a life-changing baking contest in a nearby county.

The result may just offer a recipe to happiness in the form of a chance at a new life – but everything hinges on Jenna’s resolve to rebuild her life. Can she find courage when it matters most? Waitress is an American musical about friendship, motherhood – and the magic of a well-made pie.

The show features famous Sara Bareilles songs including She Used To Be Mine, What Baking Can Do, Never Ever Getting Rid Of Me, Opening Up and When He Sees Me.

Waitress originally opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theater on Broadway in April 2016. The original cast starred the likes of Jessie Mueller, Drew Gehling and The Greatest Showman star Keala Settle. Along with four subsequent Tony nominations, the acclaimed show was nominated for four Outer Critics’ Cricle Awards (including Outstanding New Broadway Musical), two Drama League Award Nominations, and six Drama Desk Nominations (including Outstanding Musical).

So don’t miss Waitress, the show that’s inviting audiences to the Adelphi Theatre with open arms – and plenty of pie until its final performance on 4th July 2020.
