Set in 1980s London, Valued Friends follows four flatmates as they face social, political and cultural upheaval.

Starring Natalie Casey (Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps), the show is an engaging comedy-drama spans a three-year time period, during a time when Margaret Thatcher was ruling the political climate.

The show focuses on Sherry (played by Natalie), a hapless, quirky comedian, and her three flatmates. There’s Paul, a keen music journalist, Marion, who’s a straight-talking realist and Howard, an academic who’s writing about capitalism corruption. After living together for over ten years, the friends are thrown unexpectedly into a battle of nerves when a young, confident property developer offers them a substantial fee to vacate their home in West London.

Spurred on by the revolutions of their time, they quickly realise they hold all the cards in this real-life game of Monopoly and over the course of three years, they manipulate a burgeoning property market one cup of tea at a time.

Written by Stephen Jeffreys, Valued Friends was an instant classic when it was first performed at Hampstead Theatre in 1989. The show went onto win the Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright, and starred an impressive cast that included Jane Horrocks, Peter Capaldi, Tim McInnerny, Serena Gordon, Martin Clunes and Peter Caffrey.

This brand new production of Valued Friends will be the first revival of the show in 30 years. The show stars Catrin Stewart (1984 at the Almeida Theatre), Michael Marcus (The Inheritance) and Sam Frenchum (Loot at Park Theatre).
