Jamie Lloyd’s hit production of Urinetown The Musical transfers to the West End, with Jenna Russell, Marc Elliott and Jonathan Slinger reprising their roles in the show.
Featuring music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis, Urinetown is set in a futuristic city suffering from a severe drought, where business tycoon Caldwell B Cladwell has made his millions through bribery and the monopolisation of public toilets. With a brutal police force enforcing the law, this is not a place to get caught short. For those who do, it’s a one-way trip to Urinetown.
The musical’s West End run follows its UK premiere at the St James Theatre in March 2014. Prior to its London debut, the show enjoyed a successful stint on Broadway, where it picked up the Tony Awards for Best Book, Best Score and Best Direction.
Original cast members Russell, Elliott and Slinger are joined in the cast by Chris Bennett, Katie Bernstein, Cory English, Madeleine Harland, Rosanna Hyland, Karis Jack, Julie Jupp, Aaron Lee Lambert, Mark Meadows, Joel Montague and Jeff Nicholson.
