Christopher Hampton explores the passionate and volatile relationship between 19th century French poets Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine.

Rimbaud, a teenage prodigy, turns Verlaine’s world upside down with his rebellious nature. Inspired, Verlaine leaves his humdrum life – living with the parents of his young wife – behind to sample Rimbaud’s freedom. But such an existence cannot go on forever and something, or someone, has to give.
