How big is a million? Is there a man in the moon? What colour is music? Can I touch light?
The curiosity of children is boundless. They will, without hesitation or pause for breath, ask ‘Why?’ for anything up to 7 hours, and the asking of the question is often more important than finding the answer. This could make them each geniuses in their own way, as theatre-rites explore the notion that a genius is someone who continues, against all odds, to ask questions.
Theatre-rites transform the Barbican Pit theatre into a magical place using theatre, dance, animated shapes, puppetry and video as they celebrate how children learn through play in a production aimed at 4-7 year olds.
Theatre-rites formed in 1995 and have, for the last decade, been producing theatre that feeds the imaginations of both children and parents.
