Gilbert and Sullivan’s perennial raucous comedy opera The Pirates Of Penzance is revived by renowned filmmaker Mike Leigh at the London Coliseum.

Following a merry band of swashbuckling pirates who act with the utmost honour, and the efforts of a hapless bunch of policemen attempting to catch them, Gilbert and Sullivan’s farcical, sharp and witty opera is beloved for its brilliant humour.

The perfect night out, the show features many a memorable melody, including the famous patter song “I am the very model of a modern Major-General”, as well as pirates who pity orphans, a former apprentice – either five or 21 years old – who vows to put them behind bars, and policemen whose lot is not a happy one.

The Pirates Of Penzance is directed by acclaimed director Mike Leigh and stars English National Opera favourite Andrew Shore and John Tomlinson.
