Entertainment star Keith Chegwin and Dancing On Ice’s Olga Sharutenko join the Imperial Ice Stars to bring their beautiful production The Nutcracker On Ice to the London Palladium.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet score, The Nutcracker On Ice tells the story of Marie who receives a Nutcracker doll as a Christmas gift from her godfather. Love brings the doll to life and sets her on the path to adventures and meetings with the Mouse King, an enchanted Prince and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
The Imperial Ice Stars feature a cast of 26, including Olympic, World, European and National champions. Their previous shows include acclaimed productions of Sleeping Beauty On Ice, Swan Lake On Ice and Cinderella On Ice.
Russian skater Sharutenko joined The Imperial Ice Stars in 2004, going on to skate the lead roles in all of the company’s productions. In 2006 she joined the cast of ITV’s popular celebrity skating show Dancing On Ice, partnering West End favourite John Barrowman. Earlier this year she was paired with entertainer Chegwin, who will play the godfather, Drosselmeyer, in the show.
The Nutcracker On Ice marks the first time in more than 35 years that the London Palladium will feature an ice rink, though the iconic theatre is no stranger to ice. It was previously the site of the National Skating Palace in the late 1890s and even staged the World Figure Skating Championships in 1898.
