Wagner’s epic comedy The Mastersingers Of Nuremberg receives a major new production care of the English National Opera.
Amid a 16th century society dominated by rules and regulations, the tension between the freeness of creativity and the restriction of conformity is played out be the members of a guild of amateur poets and musicians.
Director Richard Jones has created a witty and clear interpretation of Wagner’s work, which is reimagined for the scale of ENO’s home, the London Coliseum.
