See the English National Opera’s production of Mozart’s masterpiece, The Marriage Of Figaro – a comic opera which is celebrated the world over.

Taking place over one mad day, The Marriage Of Figaro tells the story of Figaro and Susanna. The couple are to be married but their philandering master, Count Almaviva, attempts to delay the ceremony and seduce Susanna. To teach him a lesson, Susanna and Figaro team up with the Count’s long suffering wife, Countess Rosina. The three conspire to outwit Almaviva and expose his scheming.

However, when the teenage Cherubino gets involved, relationships become severely strained and events get even more confusing, with a few surprises along the way.

Full of revenge, disguise, trickery and love, Mozart’s The Marriage Of Figaro reveals a lot about the human condition. Using wit, grace and joyous musical invention, it’s one of the most-loved operas in history.
The Marriage Of Figaro is the first collaboration between Mozart and librettist Lorenzo da Ponte. The pair went on to write Don Giovanni and Così Fan Tutte.

The Marriage Of Figaro was originally performed in Vienna at the Burgtheater in 1786. It only had nine performances but was very well received. It was revived in Prague and was even more successful, and the run led to Don Giovanni being commissioned. It’s often admired as one of Mozart’s finest works, and is performed the world over.

ENO Music Director Martyn Brabbins conducts this second revival of director Fiona Shaw’s critically acclaimed production.

Lucy Crowe will play the Countess, and bass-baritone Ashley Riches will play the philandering Count. ENO Harewood Artist Rhian Lois will play the ever-resourceful Susanna, alongside Dutch baritone Thomas Oliemans as Figaro. Harewood Artist Katie Coventry will sing her first Cherubino.
