The Big Fellah, Richard Bean’s new play about Irish Americans and their influence on the Troubles in Northern Ireland, receives its London debut at the Lyric Hammersmith.
Set in New York 1972, The Big Fellah sees five men come together with a common purpose; to live the American dream and to continue an almighty quest for freedom.
Bean’s witty and dark play The Big Fellah spans three turbulent decades of the IRA’s brutal fight for independence.
In addition to The Big Fellah, Bean’s other plays include England People Very Nice, Under The Whaleback, Harvest, Honeymoon Suite and The English.
The Big Fellah is directed by Max Stafford-Clark, the founder and Artistic Director of Out Of Joint and former Artistic Director of the Royal Court, where his work included the premieres of Serious Money, Top Girls and Our Country’s Good. His productions for Out Of Joint include Talking To Terrorists, The Permanent Way and Shopping And F***ing.
The Big Fellah is suitable for theatregoers aged 14 and older.
