Sunny Afternoon brings the story of hit 60s band The Kinks to the London stage, along with their famous music.

How is it that on 30 July 1966, while England football captain Bobby Moore raised the World Cup above his head in triumph, 100,000 fans in Wembley stadium all sang Sunny Afternoon together. It was a number one hit that summer, but how did The Kinks get so big. How did they end up both invading the US and getting banned from playing there at the very pinnacle of their career?

Sunny Afternoon explains as it tells Ray Davies’ life story, with help from The Kinks’ front man’s own music, in a tale set against a changing Britain.

This brand new musical features a book by Joe Penhall, whose other credits include the Olivier Award-winning Blue/Orange, Dumb Show and Landscape With Weapon.
