The Orange Tree Theatre presents a double bill of plays by internationally acclaimed writers David Mamet and Caryl Churchill.

Directed by Lewis Gray, Mamet’s 1974 play Squirrels follows Arthur as he strives to write the story of a man who has been bitten by a squirrel. He hires fledgling writer Edmond as an assistant in an attempt to collaborate on the work but they receive periodic interruptions by Arthur’s cleaner, who offers a literary insight of her own.

Churchill’s The After-Dinner Joke, which is directed by Sophie Boyce, tells the story of Selby, who resigns from her job as personal secretary to begin work as one of the corporation’s charity campaign organisers. But Selby’s change of career path leads her to discover the extent to which politics and business can compromise a quest to do good.
