Cynthia Erivo and Jenna Russell star in the 20th anniversary staging of Jason Robert Brown’s Songs For A New World at the St James Theatre.
First staged off-Broadway in 1995, the musical weaves between time periods and locations, from a Spanish ship to a New York penthouse, as it takes audiences on a vibrant, thrilling and moving journey through a collection of life-changing moments.
Erivo returns to the London stage following recent performances in I Can’t Sing! and The Color Purple, while Olivier Award winner Russell was last seen on stage in Di And Viv And Rose at the Vaudeville Theatre.
They are joined in the cast by Damian Humbley, whose credits include Merrily We Roll Along in which he starred opposite Russell, and Dean John-Wilson, who recently appeared in Here Lies Love at the National Theatre.
