Legendary flamenco guitarist Paco Peña brings a very personal new work to Sadler’s Wells, exploring through music and song the emotional, physical and cultural impact of the Spanish Civil War on his country’s history. This piece is inspired by the life and music of one its most famous casualties: poet, artist, playwright and musician Federico Garcia Lorca.
The Spanish word ‘patria’ means: motherland, your people, your culture, it evokes pride in being who you are and where you are from.
In Patrias, Peña and his host of virtuoso musicians and dancers take the audience on a poignant journey through the experiences of the Spanish people during the three-year conflict.
