Nigel Planer’s first West End play takes place in 1508 Rome, as the Pope selects a sculptor to redecorate the Sistine Chapel. Not only does he have no experience of painting, but he didn’t even want the job to begin with! As he goes about wrecking the project – when he can be bothered to turn up – it is the little guys of the team that have to show him what to do, cover for him, right his mistakes and put in the hours. But will they even be thanked?

Ralf Little and Ron Cook lead the cast. This is not the first time the pair has performed together, as both appeared in Michael Winterbottom’s film 24 Hour Party People. Little is best known for his sitcom performances in The Royle Family and Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, though his theatre credits include Notes On Falling Leaves (Royal Court) and a national tour of Billy Liar. Cook is a veteran of both stage and screen, with film appearances including Secrets And Lies, Charlote Gray and The Merchant Of Venice, and stage work including Black Snow, ‘Tis A Pity She’s A Whore, Our Country’s Good and Juno And The Paycock.
