When a teleportation experiment goes slightly wrong, a neuroscientist ends up duplicated. Faced with the proposition of two selves, he wonders who the real ‘him’ is. In doing so he addresses one of science and philosophy’s greatest riddles: how does the brain construct a self? On Ego explores whether we are simply a collection of cells or feeling, loving, thinking individuals.
On Ego is based on Paul Broks’s first book, Into The Silent Land, which was short-listed for the Guardian First Book Award 2003 and has subsequently been translated into ten language. Broks also co-wrote the play.
