The first contemporary dance company from a Chinese speaking community, Cloud Gate presents two works acclaimed for their diverse disciplines and spectacular sets.

Based on a series of classical Chinese poems, Nine Songs draws on ancient imagery and sensibilities to contemporary piece in which distant and recent parts collide.

Nine Songs plays alongside Rice, which was created to celebrate Cloud Gate’s 40th anniversary and is inspired by the landscape and story of Chihshang in the East Rift Valley of Taiwan, a farming village previously tainted by the use of chemical fertilizer.
