Robert Icke directs the European premiere of Anne Washburn’s new play about a much-loved episode of The Simpsons.
Set in post-apocalyptic America, Mr Burns tells the story of a group of survivors who recall an episode of the popular American cartoon. The story is told again and again as it is handed down through generations, reshaping along the way.
The play, which opened to critical acclaim in New York last autumn, questions whether the stories we tell make us the people we are, explodes the boundaries between pop and high culture and imagines the future of America’s most famous TV family after society has crumbled.
