Rupert Grint makes his stage debut alongside Ben Whishaw, Daniel Mays, Brendan Coyle and Colin Morgan in Jez Butterworth’s Olivier Award-winning play Mojo.

Directed by Ian Rickson, with whom Butterworth has collaborated on a number of productions including his multi-award-winning hit Jerusalem and, more recently, The River, Mojo is set in Soho and charts the story of aspiring rock ‘n’ roll star Johnny Silver whose manager and Atlantic Club owner Ezra is determined to keep him from the clutches of local gangster Sam Ross.

While Mojo marks Grint’s first foray into theatre, following his on screen success as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films and, more recently, in films including Wild Target and Into The White, Whishaw, Mays, Coyle and Morgan are well known to the London stage.

Last seen on stage in the Michael Grandage Company’s production of Peter And Alice, Skyfall star Whishaw’s theatre credits include Hamlet at the Old Vic and Cock at the Royal Court, while Mays, who most recently appeared in Trelawny Of The Wells at the Donmar Warehouse, has also notched up a number of stage credits including Moonlight, also at the Donmar Warehouse, and Hero at the Royal Court.

Best known for his role as John Bates in hit ITV period drama Downton Abbey, Coyle too has made his mark on the London stage, winning the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Performance in 1999 for his performance in the world premiere of Conor McPherson’s The Weir.

Merlin star Morgan was most recently seen on stage in another magical role, Ariel in the Shakespeare’s Globe production of The Tempest, but has also won acclaim for his appearances in All About My Mother at the Old Vic and Vernon God Little at the Young Vic.

Rickson’s original production of Mojo premiered at the Royal Court in 1995, playing to critical acclaim and taking home the Olivier Award for Best Comedy.
