Composed in 1733, Orlando is one of the most compelling of all Handel’s operas, containing some of his most searingly beautiful and original music, and culminating in Orlando’s great ‘mad scene’. The opera revolves around Orlando’s journey of self-discovery and acceptance of destiny, but also delights in the magical and mysterious.
This new production is staged by Alessandro Talevi, and features an international cast and a period orchestra conducted by Gary Cooper.
