John Osborne’s poignant, witty and intensely compelling portrait of loss, betrayal and defeat, Inadmissible Evidence releases the author’s characteristic display of soaring rhetorical venom to powerful effect.

In Inadmissible Evidence, Bill Maitland, a middle aged lawyer, struggles to avoid the harsh truths of his life and keep a hold on reality. As those closest to him begin to draw away, he puts himself on trial to fight for his sanity.

Donmar associate Douglas Hodge returns to the intimate London theatre to lead the cast of Inadmissible Evidence. The actor, singer and director won both a Laurence Olivier Award and a Tony Award for his performance as Albin/Zaza in La Cage Aux Folles. His other stage outings include A Matter Of Life And Death (National Theatre), Titus Andronicus (Shakespeare’s Globe) and Guys And Dolls (Piccadilly theatre).

Karen Gillan, who makes her professional stage debut in Inadmissible Evidence, is best known as current Dr Who assistant Amy Pond.

Inadmissible Evidence playwright Osborne changed the face of British theatre when he wrote Look Back In Anger. His other plays include The Entertainer, Epitaph For George Dillon and The Hotel In Amsterdam.
