Audiences are encouraged to put on their dancing shoes for this acclaimed musical from Fatboy Slim and David Byrne, which makes its London premiere at the National Theatre.
Directed by Alex Timbers, who was at the helm of the production when it played at New York’s Public Theatre in 2013, Here Lies Love invites the audience to dance along with the cast as it tells the story of singer turned First Lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos.
The musical, which recounts Marcos’ incredible life from her meteoric rise to power to her descent into infamy and disgrace, is the first production to open in the National’s new Dorfman Theatre.
The newly refurbished venue will be transformed into a pulsating club for the immersive theatrical event, which comes complete with heart-pounding beats and adrenaline-fuelled choreography.
Featuring songs by Talking Heads’ Byrne and musical contributions from Norman Cook – better known as the hugely successful DJ Fatboy Slim – the show features a cast including Natalie Mendoza as the famous First Lady, Mark Bautista as her onstage husband Ferdinand Marcos and Dean John-Wilson as Ninoy Aquino.
Please note, this show is suitable for individuals aged 14 and older.
