Hedda Gabler Tesman is bored with a mundane existence which gives her no outlet for her all-consuming passion.
Eve Best will play Gabler. Her recent theatre work includes, for the National Theatre, Howard Davies’ production of Mourning Becomes Electra (for which she won the Critics’ Circle Best Actress Award), Katie Mitchell’s Three Sisters and Trevor Nunn’s The Coast of Utopia and The Cherry Orchard.
Richard Eyre is one of the UK’s leading directors. He was Director of the National Theatre from 1988 – 1997. His more recent work as a director includes his award -winning production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible on Broadway and the world première of Nicholas Wright’s Vincent in Brixton at the National. He is part of the all-star creative team behing Mary Poppins, which will open at the Prince Edward theatre in December.
