The second production in the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s five-show season sees Kenneth Branagh and Zoë Wanamaker star in this rarely seen comic gem by Terence Rattigan.
Co-directed by Branagh and Rob Ashford, Harlequinade tells the story of a classical theatre company attempting to produce The Winter’s Tale and Romeo and Juliet, while the intrigues and dalliances of the company members are accidently revealed with increasingly chaotic and hysterical consequences.
Harry Potter and My Family actress Wanamaker also performs Rattigan’s powerfully atmospheric monologue All On Her Own prior to each performance of Harlequinade. Never before seen in the West End, the piece tells the story of a woman with a heart-breaking and sinister secret, and celebrates the contrast in Rattigan’s astonishing range in this double bill.
Harlequinade and All On Her Own play in rep with The Winter’s Tale. The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company season also includes Red Velvet, The Painkiller, Romeo And Juliet and The Entertainer. Read more about it here.
