Juliet Stevenson reprises her critically acclaimed role in Natalie Abrahami’s hit production of Samuel Beckett’s surreal masterpiece Happy Days as it returns to the Young Vic for a second run.
Stevenson’s compelling portrayal of a woman buried up to her waist in sand originally played at the Southwark venue in 2014. It follows her character as she lurches between optimism and fragments of memories, and desperately attempts to resist despair with a series of absurd distractions and diversions.
50 years on this powerful tale of resilience – and of a woman’s ability to survive against overwhelming odds – still promises to shock and amaze.
Olivier Award-winning actress Stevenson, whose many theatre credits include recent appearances in Duet For One at the Almeida Theatre and in the West End, and The Heretic at the Royal Court, is joined in the cast by David Beames.
