Imelda Staunton leads the cast of Good People, David Lindsay-Abaire’s witty and touching South Boston-set drama.

Just making ends meet is one hell of a task for Margie. So when the sharp-tongued single mother loses her job, she will do almost anything to keep the wolves from the door. When news comes to her that an old boyfriend, whose life has gone rather well, has returned to town, she decides to get in touch. The results are decidedly unexpected.

Good People brings Olivier Award-winning actress Staunton back to the Hampstead Theatre for the first time in two decades. The performer, who most recently won an Olivier for her performance as Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd, is well known for screen performances in films including Vera Drake, Shakespeare In Love and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

Staunton’s fellow cast member Lloyd Owen was last seen on the London stage playing Frank Farmer in the stage adaptation of The Bodyguard. He last appeared at Hampstead Theatre in Loyalty in 2011.

Director Jonathan Kent, who directed Staunton in Sweeney Todd, makes his Hampstead debut with Good People.
