Rakatá perform Henry VIII in Castilian Spanish as part of the Globe’s innovative programme Globe To Globe.

In 1533, the Spanish were enraged by Catherine of Aragon’s divorce from Henry VIII. Eighty years later, Shakespeare engaged with the subject in his last play. Now four hundred years later,
Rakatá, Madrid’s premier young classical company, re-imagine this play from a Spanish perspective, with the thrilling clarity they bring to their productions of Spanish Golden Age work.

Globe To Globe sees every one of Shakespeare’s 37 plays performed in a different language by an international company. The result is a once in a life time, six week celebration of the incredible breadth of communities and languages that make up London’s vibrant cultural landscape.
