Giselle is one of the most influential Romantic ballets, describing the transcendental power of a woman’s love in face of betrayal. Peter Wright delicately stages the piece while John F. Mcfarlane provides atmospheric designs.
Giselle tells the story of a peasant girl who is driven to kill herself when she discovers that her youthful lover isn’t quite the man she thought he was… Instead of fading away to nothing, however, Giselle rises from the dead to prey on the man who has betrayed her.
