Authentic Argentine tango takes centre stage at the award-winning Tango Fire, playing its seventh season at the West End’s Peacock Theatre.
Charting the history of Argentine tango, from its origins to contemporary interpretations, dance partners in Tango Fire include the internationally renowned duo Germán Cornejo and Gisela Galeassi, who perform a special new solo for this production.
Having toured internationally for the past 14 years to global acclaim, Tango Fire couples Cornejo’s awe-inspiring choreography and vision with Galeassi’s fervent passion, elegance and grace. The result is an ardent experience through the history, various styles and moods of Argentine tango.
The six couples performing include former World Tango champions. These renowned artists and performers showcase their own brand of unique flair through their individual interpretations of tango, enjoying the creative freedom to craft their own dances. Dance couples for Tango Fire are: Germán Cornejo & Gisela Galeassi, Sebastian Alvarez & Victoria Saudelli, Marcos Esteban Roberts & Louise Junqueira Malucelli, Ezequiel Lopez & Camila Alegre, Julio Jose Seffino & Carla Dominguez, and Esteban Simon & Marilu Leopardi.
Behind them, the company’s resident music group Tango Fuego Quartet enhance the production by playing the music of the great tango masters live – including Piazzolla, Pugliese and Gardel. Skilled virtuosos on piano, bandoneon, contrabass and violin enrich the sensuality of Tango Fire.
Honed and refined by Cornejo’s expert choreographic skill, Tango Fire encompasses the art and exhilarating passion of Argentine tango, led by the leading tango dance company.
