22 April, 20:00: Stephen Sondheim
Revolutionary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim has been testing the limits of Broadway since his first success with west Side Story in 1957. Known for witty wordplay and complex music, his versatility is demonstrated by a range of shows, including Sweeney Todd, Follies, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum and Sunday In The Park With George.
3 June, 20:00: Stephen Schwartz
Enjoying West End and Broadway success with Wicked, Stephen Schwartz was the first composer/lyricist to have three sucessful Broadway shows running simultaneously: Godspell, Pippin, and The Magic Show in 1974.
24 June, 20:00: Cy Coleman
A child prodigy, Cy Coleman played at Carnegie Hall at the age of seven and moved from jazz to musical theatre, collaborating with other ‘giants’ of musical theatre to create sweet Charity, City Of Angels, The Will Rogers Follies, Barnum, the Life, and Little Me.
Each week will feature three or four performers from the the following team: Alex Browne, Claire Dodin, Gemma Goggin, Janine Hales, Liz Hammond, Kristen Harvey, Philip Lee, Hannah Lindo, Tim McArthur, William Ludwig, Cathy McManamon and Lincoln Stone.
