This mixed programme, exploring the intimate style of chamber-scale pieces, takes different facets of love as the central theme for its three works.

Taking Alain Fournier’s novel Le Grand Meaulnes as its inspiration, Andrée Howard’s La Fête Étrange portrays the world of adolescent love and the fallout that follows.

Glen Tetley’s Pierrot Lunaire, by contrast, takes its inspiration for Schoenberg’s song cycle, and focuses on the psychological relationships between Brighella, Columbine and Pierrot.

Royal Ballet favourite Marguerite And Armand, set to Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B Minor, is Frederick Ashton’s distillation of Dumas’s novel La Dame Aux Camélias.
