Exciting boundary-pushing Icelandic company Vesturport works its theatrical magic on Faust, the universal tale of a man who sells his soul to the devil.
Loud, fast, explosive and acrobatic, this acclaimed production of Faust is hilarious and terrifying; an unforgettable journey of faith, doubt, love, desire and happiness.
Vesturport’s production of Faust also features music by Nick Cave, who is best known as the front man of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, and his collaborator of 15 years, violinist and composer Warren Ellis. The show’s score ranges from devilish glam-rock to soulful ballads.
The circus-inspired production of Faust is co-written and directed by Gísli Örn Garðarsson whose work as a director and adaptor has included productions of Metamorphoses (Lyric Hammersmith and world tour) and Woyzeck (Young Vic at the Barbican). He has also performed in A Matter Of Life And Death (National Theatre), Nights At The Circus (Lyric Hammersmith) and in the recent blockbuster film Prince Of Persia.
This production of Faust is a UK premiere.
