Inspired by a real court case in the USA, a Chicago teenager is arrested for terrorist collusions when she converts from Christianity to Islam, and is tried by a practising Muslim, in the UK premiere of Selina Fillinger’s new play Faceless.

Your everyday suburban Chicago teenager, Susie lives her life on the internet. However, when she meets someone online who convinces her to change her faith from Christianity to Islam and leave home for Syria, Susie finds herself arrested for conspiring to commit acts of terrorism – and finds herself portrayed as an enemy of the State.

And to make matters worse for Susie, Recent Harvard Law graduate and practising Muslim, Claire Fathi, will be prosecuting for the US government – to the full extent of the law…

Faceless is directed by emerging artist Prav MJ, and penned by actor/playwright Fillinger. Complex issues highlighted in the play include self-identity and the relationship of young women to digital technology in the 21st Century.

Selina Fillinger is a Chicago-based actor and playwright, who recently graduated from Northwestern University, USA. Faceless was commissioned by Northlight Theatre and the subsequent Chicago production (2017) was nominated for a Joseph Jeff Award. Now, Faceless transfers to the Park Theatre to leave audiences reeling.
