Following its success in Plymouth, the Drum Theatre Plymouth comes to Soho Theatre with the London premiere of Dan Rebellato’s bitter-sweet and acutely observed comedy Chekhov In Hell.
Anton Chekhov, the great observer of 19th century Russian life, wakes up from 100 years of sleep to find himself confronted by 21st century Britain where he encounters everything from reality television and fashionistas to illegal immigrants, Twitter and YouTube.
Fast, funny and heartfelt, Chekhov In Hell is presented as a series of sketches featuring a cast of gangsta rappers, people traffickers, lap dancers and self-help groups as a bemused Chekhov tries to make sense of 21st century living.
