Following on from the huge success of Sean Holmes’s revival of Edward Bond’s Saved, the Lyric continue their celebration of Bond’s work by reviving a trio of his one act plays in the Chair season.
Have I None and The Under Room open the season with a double bill directed by Sean Holmes and Edward Bond himself.
Have I None is set in an apocalyptic world where lives are closely monitored, living spaces designated and displays of emotion restricted. It’s only when a stranger appears that a couple begin to question their rigid life.
The Under Room, first performed in 2005, sees a woman confronted by a stranger in her cellar. But as he tells his story she finds that the very foundations of her life are challenged.
Suitable for ages 14+
The season continues with The Chair from 11-25 May and a special triple bill featuring all three on Saturday 19 & 26 May.
