Banned by Stalin, Fyodor Lupukov’s original 1935 production was never again staged. Alexei Ratmansky’s 2003 production is a sparkling re-interpretation of this modern classic.

Shostakovich’s witty and colourful score provides the canvas for this mischievous comedy of life and love in which flirtatious husbands received their just desserts, whilst Ratmansky’s vibrant staging combines acrobatics, disguise and farce in a kaleidoscopic whirl.
