Robert Fardell, whose previous credits include Les Misérables, Heathcliff and Evita, plays The Prisoner; the man who, in 1669 was imprisoned in the most mysterious of circumstances by King Louis XIV of France. Forced to live his life from behind a mask, he was the best served inmate in the world; he had the very best of everything he could wish for. The only luxury he was denied was the one thing he craved the most; human companionship. The Prisoner was transported through four different jails, but always under the watchful eye of the same jailer, Monsieur St Mars. It was through his indiscretion that a gypsy (Ferguson) became caught up in the two men’s relationship.
Sheila Ferguson plays The Gypsy. As a member of The Three Degrees Ferguson collected 28 gold and silver records with singles including The Sound Of Philadelphia and When Will I See You Again. She was most recently seen in the West End in 2004 playing Muzzy Van Hossmere in Thoroughly Modern Millie. She was seen on television at the end of the year in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!
