Trevor Nunn directs Eileen Atkins and Michael Gambon in the London premiere of Samuel Beckett’s All That Fall.

All That Fall charts the journey of old and unwieldy Mrs Rooney as she makes her way to the railway station on a Saturday lunchtime to guide her blind husband home, encountering a number of different people along the way.

Atkins and Gambon, both three times Olivier Award winners, have previously performed on stage together in the Barbican theatre’s 1998 production of The Unexpected Man but have been seen on screen more recently in BBC period drama Cranford.

Best known for her role in Upstairs Downstairs, Atkins’ stage credits include The Female Of The Species at the Vaudeville theatre, The Sea at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and The Birthday Party at the Duchess theatre.

Gambon is well known for his on screen roles in the popular Harry Potter films and in the television series The Singing Detective, but his appearances on stage include Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tapes, The Habit Of Art and Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 at the National Theatre, and No Man’s Land, Eh Joe and Endgame in the West End.

Best known for directing hit musicals Cats and Les Misérables, Nunn directs the two greatly respected British actors at the intimate Jermyn Street theatre having recently won the 2012 Best Director Olivier award for his production of Flare Path.
