ER and Doctor Who star Alex Kingston leads Admissions, a bitingly funny new comedy transferring direct from New York, where it won the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Play.

Kingston will play Sherri, Head of Admissions at a highly respected private school. Sherri is desperate to diversify the student body and force her school to be more progressive – and she wants you to know about it. But when Sherri’s son is deferred from his university of choice, and she discovers that his best friend – who ‘ticks more boxes’ – is accepted, her ambitions are set on a collision course with her convictions.

Admissions may only be 90 minutes long – but it promises to provide a piercing, provocative debate that will last far beyond the final bows.

Written by Joshua Harmon, whose play Bad Jews also recently played at Trafalgar Studios, Admissions previously enjoyed a widely acclaimed – and award-winning – run at New York’s Lincoln Centre Theater, who have enjoyed a number of acclaimed West End hits in recent years, including the Olivier Award-nominated Oslo.

Alex Kingston is perhaps best known for playing Dr. Elizabeth Corday on ER and River Song in BBC’s Doctor Who, but she has also enjoyed a varied stage career, incorporating roles in Macbeth opposite Kenneth Branagh and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest with Christian Slater. She has also frequently collaborated with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Kingston will star opposite Sarah Hadland, a stage and screen favourite well known for her roles in TV comedy Miranda and Bond film Quantum Of Solace. The cast will also star Ben Edelman (Charlie), who reprises his acclaimed performance from the show’s Lincoln Center Theatre run, as well as Andrew Wooddall (Bill) and Margot Leicester (Roberta). The show will be directed by Daniel Aukin.

Expect Admissions to land like a gut-punch – scorching, astonishing, daring, and hilarious.
