A Round-Heeled Woman, based on the book by Jane Juska, tells the story of this retired Californian English teacher and divorcee who realised, after three decades of being ‘severely deprived’ of sex, that she ‘liked men’. Placing a personals ad in the New York Review Of Books, the 66-year-old received over 60 replies from men aged between 32 and 84. She went on to write of her experiences in A Round-Heeled Woman – My Late-Life Adventures in Sex And Romance.
In this stage adaptation by Jane Prowse, Juska is played by Sharon Gless, best known for playing Christine Cagney in cop show Cagney And Lacey. She has previously appeared on the London stage in Misery and Chapter Two.
