Dame Judi Dench and Sir Peter Hall reunite for a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a play they first worked on together in 1962.

Set in Elizabethan England, this new production sees Dench play Titania, the Fairy Queen, as a portrait of the ageing Queen Elizabeth I, fascinated with the theatre, besieged by courtiers but ‘married to the people of England’.

The production is specially designed for the Rose’s open stage.

Dench is one of the UK’s best loved actresses, whose career spans five decades. A multi-Laurence Olivier Award-winner, her numerous stage credits in London include Breath Of Life, Cabaret, Absolute Hell, A Little Night Music, plus, directed by Hall, Hay Fever, Antony And Cleopatra and The Royal Family.

Hall is the former Artistic Director of the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company, which he founded. He led the campaign to establish the Rose theatre, Kingston, and was its founding Artistic Director.
