London auditions for Youth Music Theatre: UK’s annual summer residential courses will be held on 27 January and 21-22 February as part of a nationwide search for new musical theatre talent.
YMT: UK is looking to recruit 300 young actors, singers, dancers, musicians and stage technicians aged 11-21 from all over the country for this year’s productions, which are rehearsed and performed during residential courses in July and August.
Working with professional directors, composers and choreographers, the courses – which take place around the UK – give young people the opportunity to be involved with creating and performing music theatre. This year’s eight shows include Great Expectations in Bracknell, Terry Pratchett’s Mort in Guildford, Peter Pan in Plymouth, Missing Melanie at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a new show by EastEnders director Steve Keyworth in Leeds.
Auditions, which cost £22 to attend, take the form of two-hour workshops where professionals lead groups of 25 young people. Those who are successful at audition will be allocated to one of the residential courses around the country this summer.

We are confident there is a huge amount of untapped talent in the capital.”
YMT: UK is a leading national youth arts organisation which aims to further the personal and creative development of young people through the medium of musical theatre. Former participants include Charlotte Ritchie and Daisy Chute, who are now in the group All Angels, and Lucy Griffiths, who went on to play Maid Marian in the BBC’s Robin Hood.
