Wilton’s celebrates Victorian Christmas

Wilton’s Music Hall will be decked with boughs of holly this Christmas as it presents a Victorian-themed festive show from 6 to 18 December.

Wilton’s Vintage Christmas is a variety hall style entertainment show which takes the venue back to its 19th century roots with a melange of carols, songs, poetry and stories from Charles Dickens and Punch founder Henry Mayhew.

The evening is hosted by The Archers’s Graham Seed, playing the real-life character of John Wilton, who opened Wilton’s Music Hall in 1858.

After the 85-minute performance the audience is invited to stay and partake in seasonal fayre including mulled wine and roasted chestnuts.

Seed is joined in the show by Amanda Claire-Jones, Michael Fenton Stevens, Lottie Latham, Vincent Leigh, Charlotte Newton John and Owen Pugh. They are directed by Nick Hutchison, whose work includes The Taming Of The Shrew at Wilton’s Music Hall in 2007.
