A host of West End regulars, including Rolan Bell and Jason Pennycooke, will join the previously announced Beverley Knight and Killian Donnelly in new musical Memphis when it opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre this autumn.

Former We Will Rock You star Bell and Pennycooke, last seen in Kiss Me Kate, are joined in the cast by Tyrone Huntley (The Book Of Mormon), Mark Roper (The Lion King) and Claire Machin who is currently performing at the Shaftesbury Theatre in The Pajama Game.

The cast of the production, which begins performances on 9 October, is completed by Jon Robyns, Simon Ray-Harvey, Rachel John, Keisha Atwell, Arielle Campbell, Mark Carroll, Joseph Davenport, Momar Diagne, Carly Mercedes Dyer, Kimmy Edwards, Hillary Elk, Laura Ellis, Charlotte Gorton, Benjamin Harrold, Waylon Jacobs, Dean Maynard, Devon McKenzie-Smith, Tim Newman, Ashley Rumble, Kyle Seeley, Helen Siveter, Dawnita Smith and Alex Thomas.

Inspired by a true story Memphis, written by Joe DiPietro and Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan, tells the story of a DJ in 1950s Memphis who want to change the world, and a club singer eager for her big break.

The Tony Award-winning show, which launched today with an event at Ronnie Scott’s, opens at the Shaftsbury following the five-star summer run of classic American musical The Pajama Game.
