“You’ve never had it so good” sing the cast of Stephen Ward. That’s certainly the case if you love a show trailer.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical, which opened at the Aldwych Theatre in December, has celebrated the start of 2014 by releasing a brand new trailer.
From Ward’s haunting opening number Human Sacrifice to the girlish 1963 and the triumphant anthem to upper class promiscuity You’ve Never Had It So Good, the musical highlights of the show are all there in the 90 second montage.
Lloyd Webber’s latest production, which features a book by Christopher Hampton and lyrics by Don Black, explores British political scandal the Profumo affair, focusing on the man many view as a scapegoat, society osteopath and friend to politicians and celebrities Ward. Among the many introductions he made were those of showgirl Christine Keeler to both a Soviet spy and British Secretary of State for War John Profumo. The combination proved to be so dangerous a coincidence that it led to Profumo’s resignation, a loss of confidence in the government and the trial of Ward.
The musical, which boasts a cast including Alexander Hanson, Charlotte Spencer and Joanna Riding, recently extended its London run to 31 May.
