Damian Lewis, star of Homeland and current BBC historical romp Wolf Hall, is heading back to the London stage, leading the cast of David Mamet’s heist drama American Buffalo.
Somehow it has been six years since the actor, who really hit the big time in Steven Spielberg’s HBO miniseries Band Of Brothers, has graced London’s West End. So his return is getting chins wagging in Theatreland almost as much as the winners and losers of awards season.
When you add in the fact that he’s joined in the crime caper by big screen legend John Goodman and rising British star Tom Sturridge it all adds up to one of the spring’s most exciting and tantalising productions.
The trio plays three small-time crooks planning one big job to set them up. A comedy of errors divides loyalties, feeds greed and turns friendships on their head.
As he get snapped for the show’s posters, Lewis talks about the play, his colleagues and his long-standing connection to director Daniel Evans. Watch the interview at the top of the page.
