Ahead of her debut as Rachel Marron next week, The Bodyguard has released a snippet of X Factor winner and pop star Alexandra Burke giving a fierce rendition of Queen Of The Night.
Though she took to the stage with the cast of Les Misérables in 2012 to raise money for Children In Need, when she steps onto the Adelphi Theatre stage next Monday Burke will be making her West End debut proper. Music and theatre fans alike are waiting to see what the Bad Boys singer will do with the role that will be vacated by British soul icon Beverley Knight this weekend.
If this YouTube teaser is anything to go by, Burke is certain to give the part of Marron, a global superstar with a serious stalker problem, some tuneful oomph.
While she’s belting out Whitney Houston’s stunning back catalogue – from I’m Every Woman and I Wanna Dance With Somebody to One Moment In Time and I Will Always Love You – Tristan Gemmill continues in his role as the defeater of danger, Frank Farmer, the former special agent drafted in to the musical’s title role when the threat to the diva becomes apparent.
